At Line Testing

Traditional testing scenarios involve a “Quality Control” mentality as opposed to “Quality Assurance”.   At Line testing scenarios are typically Quality Assurance oriented.

Many industries are finding that by providing the operator with the tools to monitor and adjust her process, quality is assured.  By providing rapid testing tools and software that can provide feedback as to trends and alarms, the operator can “Own” the process.  Despite automation, she can rekindle the old pride of workmanship that is missing in so many areas today.

This often involves moving the tests from the lab to the line, or at least to remote mini-labs that are closer to the action.  It also involves giving the operator access to data collection, display and alarming software that can provide information in an easy to understand and easy to use format.   The data collected is available to the operator in real- or near real-time, although it may be used to update many data repositories.

QIC’s At Line solution is based on our GainSeeker™ SPC software product, which is one of the few SPC packages with enough functionality to achieve the diversity in data collection from multiple sources; to alarm and feedback on specific failures; and to integrate to virtually any data repository.   In addition, GainSeeker™ SPC has met QIC’s stringent criteria for inclusion as a QIC endorsed solution.
