About us

Achieve More...

QIC  is a process consultant, systems integrator, and solutions provider to various sectors of the Manufacturing industry – providing solutions for the shop floor to the top floor.  Although our consultants have a wide range of technical and practical experience, our mission is to help our clients achieve superior results from Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and Quality Management Systems (QMS).

Our life in technology

The history of QIC

QIC was founded as two companies in 1980: one a provider of in-plant physical and logical networks for manufacturing facilities; the other,  a solutions provider of quality systems which at that time was a hardware based specialty.

The two organizations worked together for a number of years and merged in 1990.  The new focus became providing manufacturing operations management systems (MOM or MES).  In the hierarchy of Manufacturing systems, these address the third, fourth, fifth, and part of the second tier - essentially anything that isn't direct equipment control, or purely financial in nature.

But everything we do exchanges information with the ERP and PLC tiers to tie the organization together.

Our Values

We strive to ensure that our clients obtain the best appropriate solution for their current needs, with a system that will scale as they grow, both in business and system use.

If we do not have the appropriate solution, we may execute a search for the client, or may simply refer the client to the appropriate solution from another party.

Each of out solutions must be installable without ANY code changes, but at the same time be configurable via parameters so as the adapt to the client's particular special needs.

We provide first line support for everything we sell. The vendor is second line if needed, and the developers third.

Each solution must also have a methodology to easily integrate it with other client systems.

Client Needs Met

Our success is fully dependent upon that of the solutions we implement for clients.  Ensuring the solution is the most appropriate is thus our driving focus.  If we can't provide the right solution, we can find it, or we can simply refer the client to a solution we believe will work, regardless of whether we are involved in the implementation.

Pre-qualified Solutions

In the markets we serve, it is not unusual for there to be hundreds of applications available for any given requirement.  We find that the most successful from a sales perspective is often (make that is usually) not the most effective solution.  We constantly monitor available products, and subject them to a set of key design criteria, and if they pass, we will commit to do what is necessary to offer them to our clients.

We have many solutions that purport to be competitive to each other, but we know they are often as different as a Ferrari is to a Mack Truck.  Both ways to get from A to B.... but they should not be offered as equivalent solutions.

Teamwork

Although everyone has his or her own specialty, everyone (except administrators) in the company spends time on customer installation teams.  The sales person has been there.  The person answering the support line has been there, s/he is not working from a script.  We have been part of customer teams, teams where we worked side-by-side with competitors, and teams where our suppliers were also on the team.

Consultation

We do not push products.  We work as consultants.  We work as a representative of our various vendors to the client, but equally as a representative of our client TO the vendor.  We add value to both parties.

Peter Burkinshaw

Director of Customer Support

Peter joined QIC in 2000 as an Application Engineer.  It soon became apparent that he could use the configuration options of our solutions to make applications do things not even the developers knew could be done.  He is especially skilled at understanding the ramifications of details, which is often overlooked in systems decisions, but oh so critical to success.

Jeff Milcz

Director of Business Development and Sales

Jeff is a recent addition to the management team and has multiple transferrable skilsto assist clients to determine the best solution for their unique needs. Hehas shown a real knack for helping clients identify and articulate their requirements in terms what they want to accomplish, rather than how they want to accomplish it.  This is, in our opinion, the most effective way to find the best solution.
